Award Ceremony: Sunday, May 20, 2
p.m. March 31 is the deadline for application paperwork to be received by diocese. (Paperwork is on back page of each booklet) The recommended guidelines for the awards are: Tigers and Wolves: Light of Christ However, Bears may also earn the Light of Christ if they choose. I suggest that the Parvuli Dei Award be earned during the Bear or first year Webelos year since most 2nd year Webelos scouts will have bridged over to Boy Scouts prior to the May ceremony, and they will have missed the opportunity to wear the pin on their uniform.We encourage all the boys and the parents to earn the award as an entire den or patrol. Parents must work with the boys to accomplish all of the requirements. Some of the activities provide enriching experiences for the entire family, and the boys get a great sense of satisfaction from attaining the medal. The award ceremony is quite special, and includes cub, boy, and girl scouts from throughout the diocese. In the past, we have followed up the ceremony with a picnic and potluck dinner with all of the scout families. Booklets cost $1.25 each and are purchased at the scout store. It is suggested that the boys allow at least three months to complete the award. Call Tom Beckman if you need additional information. 597-7531.
